Summer Olympics

We finally had time to squeeze in a day for kids club after a busy summer. We decided to have the kids come and compete in some fun outdoor games and our version of the olympics. We only had 4 contestants this time but we had so much fun. We hula hooped until our hula's hurt, we crafted, we gathered acorns in the acorn dash, we frisbee archery-ed, Jump roped until we couldn't jump any more, won medals that Mayc and Jentri made for us, then we roasted hot dogs and cooked s'mores with our families after all the fun was enjoyed. We love spending time with the kiddos and we thank the parents for making the effort to get them to us! Family is the best!

Winter Pajama party kids club

Our winter Kids club was held on Feb. 3rd from 7:00 - 9:30. I almost forgot to take any pictures so these are just before everyone left for the night. Try not to be to jealous that my Great nieces and nephews are cuter than yours (j/k). We had a pajama party, there is no better way to entertain than in your Jammie's. Scott and I both wore ours!!

We started the night by feeding all the munchkins pizza. Cheese pizza was definitely the pizza of choice with lots of ranch dressing for dipping drowning your pizza in. It is so fun to listen to the chatter of cousins who don't see each other too often and those that have never met from the other side of the family.

Before I go further, our first get together in November we had 6 kiddos in attendance and this time we almost doubled our numbers. Yep! 11 under the age of 11, the youngest being 3 year old. We love them all.

After the pizza we had a craft making Valentines for whoever they wanted. These kids are definitely into crafts and made the best Valentines I have ever seen. Then they were able to decorate cupcakes and of course eat them. We played some games and began a movie (Fly Away Home). We should have started earlier because the movie was still playing when the parents showed up to get them. Oh well, they got to see the best part with their kids.

Like I said, I almost for got to take pictures so the others in attendance that had left by now were Gavin, Keisha, Jentri and Macee! I will get their picture at our spring Club!!!

Our first CLUB meeting (rather party!!!)

The official start of our kids club began on a November evening. Since it is titled the Great Scott and diane club I thought it appropriate to begin with Scott front and center, because he is pretty great to go along with my hair brained ideas!!!

We had 6 participants and we had a ball. You will find we have some pretty adorable nieces and handsome but active nephews.

We began the evening by introducing the kiddos to each other since this is both sides of the family getting together. We did a fall craft, we had a copy of a tree and we had some fall leaves to write the things we are grateful for on. At first it was slow going thinking of blessings until I shared a story from someone I admire greatly. Her name is Stephanie, I don't know her personally but I have listened to her talk twice and I read her blog faithfully. She has an amazing story of survival from a fiery plane crash and is so grateful for the little and big things in life. That started the creative juices flowing and we almost ran out of leaves and the trees were covered.
I think we wore Brock out!

We played games for the rest of the time together that the sisters Stringhams brought. Go fish was so fun as you can see from the following pictures. Our next meeting will be coming up shortly and the brothers Young will bring them!

We had such a fun night and we will have our next meeting later this month! We hope more will join in next time :)

The beginnings!

I guess the beginning is the best place to start! The idea for the club came from a daughter of a friend actually. Her brother and his wife were not blessed with children of their own so they started a club for the children of their siblings. Since Scott and I have no grandchildren of own as of yet, we needed some interaction with children to get us ready for our own grandchildren. We also feel a bit diconnected to our extended family and we wanted a way to bond the children and even the parents of children to each other. So the club was inspired!

We decided to invite our nephews and our grand nieces and nephews to join. Following is the letter:
The next post will be from our first meeting last friday night! We had a blast :)
Welcome to the ....Great Scott...and Diane ClubYou are invited to a new club we are forming to create more unity for the families of Uncle Scott and Aunt Diane. We know that some of you live out of state but we still want you as members and we will mail out crafts, treats etc. to you. On the day of our activities we will try to contact you by phone just to say "HI".
The first one to call Aunt Diane on the phone at 801-721-8833, will be the President of said club. The second one to call Vice President and so forth. Each member will have a responsibility and position.
Right now we are planning to meet each season of the year. For our fall meeting we want to invite you to our home on Nov.19th at 7 to 9. We will be doing a craft for the Fall Season , eating and playing games (note to parents: go out and have a date night while we watch the kiddos. Let us know if you need to bring them earlier or stay later to accommodate a movie or whatever! You are welcome to stay and help out if you want). Please RSVP by Nov. 12th so we can get things ready and mailed out to far away members.
Who is invited, you might ask? Any one related to Scott and Diane Jacobson (step and half relations too) including the Wrights (Kyle, Jordan, Daniel ), Carters, Ivins, Strongs, Stringham, Dowdle, Castonquay, Rea, Gillingham , and Rumsey children. If I am forgetting a family please inform us and forgive us. Most activities will be centered around kids 10 and under but, older kids can come help the smaller ones!
We hope you come to get to know your cousins better, meet new friends and make your Aunt and Uncle happy!
